SPC William Dale Ballard, son of Ricky and Mary Ann Ballard of Rock Hill, recently graduated from military police training at Fort Leonard Wood, Mo. He is stationed at Fort Carson in Colorado Springs, Colo. Ballard also served in the Marine Corps and Army National Guard before entering active duty with the Army. He is a 1994 graduate of Rock Hill High School.
Seaman Lisa D. Merritt, daughter of Denise S. and Douglas W. Satterfield of York, recently graduated from the U.S. Coast Guard Recruit Training Center in Cape May, N. J. Merritt is a 2000 graduate of Clover High School.
John H. Whatley, son of Dorthy M. Thomas of York and John F. Whatley of Forest, Va., recently enlisted in the U.S. Marine Corps under the Delayed Entry Program with Marine Corps Recruiting Station, Columbia.
Westley M. Jackson, son of Donna Webster-Brown of Clover and Mark B. Jackson of York, recently enlisted in the U.S. Marine Corps under the Delayed Entry Program with Marine Corps Recruiting Station, Columbia. Jackson is a 2004 graduate of York Comprehensive High School.
ReShawn M. Lowry, son of Sandra Alexander and Robert Lowry, both of Clover, recently enlisted in the U.S. Navy under the Delayed Entry Program at Navy Recruiting District, Raleigh, N. C. Lowry will report for active duty to undergo basic training at the Navy's Recruit Training Center, Great Lakes, Ill.
Reserve Chief Petty Officer David S. Adkins, son of Anne B. and Charles T. Adkins of Fort Mill, was deployed to the Middle East while assigned to Navy Expeditionary Logistics Support Group (NAVELSG) Forward Hotel homebased at Yorktown Naval Weapons Station-Cheatham Annex, Williamsburg, Va. Adkins is a 1989 graduate of Fort Mill High School and joined the Navy Reserve in April 1990.
South Carolina State Guard
Lt. Barbara Eaddy of Rock Hill has graduated from the Officers Basic Course. She is a member of Delta Company, Fourth Battalion, First Brigade of the South Carolina State Guard. Since joining the Guard, she has completed the Basic Noncommissioned Officer, Advanced Noncommissioned Officer and Basic Military Police courses.
WO1 Curtis Holder of Rock Hill has graduated from the Officer Basic Course.He is a member of the Fourth Battalion, First Brigade of the South Carolina State Guard. Since joining the Guard, he has completed the Basic Noncommissioned Officer, Advance Noncommissioned Officer, First Sergeant and Weapons of Mass Destruction courses. He has taken emergency courses with Homeland Security, several FEMA courses and hurricane training. He has earned MEMS certification along with Volunteer and Service ribbons. Holder previously served in the U.S. Army, where he was certified in Driver Training, Transportation Movements and Projectors.
SSG Wesley Snipes of Rock Hill has graduated from the Basic Noncommissioned Officers Course. He is a member of Headquarters HHC of the South Carolina State Guard. Since joining the Guard, SSG Snipes has also completed the Train the Trainer, Weapons of Mass Destruction and Unarmed Combat courses. He has earned Individual Achievement with oak leaf, Good Conduct with bronze star, Longevity, Service, Emergency Services and Military Readiness ribbons, and State Guard Association of the U.S. recognition. Snipes is a National Registry Emergency Medical Technician -- Intermediate (NREMT-I) with the South Carolina State Guard as a Medic and a full-time employee with Piedmont Medical Center (Tenet Healthcare).
Pvt. Travis Schell of Rock Hill has graduated from the Warrior Leaders Course (WLC), the first step in the Noncommissioned Officer Education System. Schell is a member of the Delta Company, Fourth Battalion, First Brigade of the South Carolina State Guard. Since joining the Guard, he has also completed the Weapons of Mass Destruction and Unarmed Combat courses as well as TERT in Anniston, Ala. He has earned an Emergency Management Training ribbon and Federal School Training ribbon as well State Guard Association of the U.S. recognition. He previously served in the U.S. Navy and the Army National Guard.
