Woman charged with providing beer to minors before car mishap

A 36-year-old Rock Hill woman was in custody Thursday after police said she gave alcohol to two teens, ultimately leading to a car accident.

Denise Ann Deese of 1706 India Hook Road, Apt. 204, was charged with two counts of transferring beer to a minor and two counts of contributing to the delinquency of a minor, according to Rock Hill Police reports.

Deese's charges stem from an incident June 28 at a swimming pool at 1706 India Hook Road. Around 1 p.m., a 15-year-old female teen picked up her 16-year-old male friend before picking up Deese from her home, the report states.

The teens gave Deese money and they went to a BP gas station at 490 S. Herlong Ave., where Deese purchased beer and gave it to the teens upon returning to the car, according to the report. The report states they went back to Deese's apartment and drank alcohol at the pool. Later, the teens left the pool to take some friends to the pool, the report states.

According to the report, Deese allowed the teens to leave in an intoxicated state. The 15-year-old female, who was driving, ran out of gas and struck a road sign, the report states.

Authorities charged the 15-year-old with driving under the influence and possession of alcohol by someone younger than 21. The 16-year-old was charged with possession of alcohol by someone younger than 21, according to the report.

Police arrested Deese on Wednesday at her home. On Thursday, a judge set Deese's bond at $5,940. Deese is slated to return to court on July 17 and Sept. 9, the judge said.

Deese was released on bond Thursday.
