A no swim advisory is in effect after a wastewater overflow near River Hills Marina Club.
Carolina Water Service issued a public notice Monday afternoon. A spill of less than 2,000 gallons drained into Lake Wylie in the cove between Oakwood Lane and Marina Road. The incident occurred between 7:17 and 9:30 a.m. Monday from a manhole behind 12 Oakwood Lane.
The incident impacts Marina, Old Post, Ridgeport and Sunrise Point roads, Sunrise Point and Tall Pines courts, Oakwood Lane, Riverview Terrace and the marina club.
Carolina Water put out the public notice and sent out phone calls to residents in the area.
“(The state health department) has been notified,” the notice says.
“We have placed ‘No Swimming’ signs at the cove that was impacted and ask that you avoid contact with Lake Wylie in this area until further notice. The area has been cleaned up and lime applied as needed.”
