Residents on Galilean Road in York heard gunfire ring out Sunday in the middle of the night, damaging a home and car parked along the street.
York police responded around 5:30 a.m. Sunday to multiple calls about shots fired in the area. A man on the 100 block of Galilean told police he heard between eight and 10 shots fired right outside his side door, and officers found fresh footprints in the wet grass leading toward Thicket Run. Another witness told police she looked out her window after hearing the shots and saw someone in dark clothing jump into a “box-style” SUV, which then sped off toward South Congress Street.
Eight 9mm shell casings were recovered from the roadway, and bullet holes were found in the front and rear passenger doors of a Pontiac G6 parked on the side of the road. Damage also could be seen to the home behind the vehicle and a nearby tree. No injuries from the shooting were reported, but police estimated the damage at $2,300.
The incident remains under investigation.
