A driver is dead after hitting a deer on Interstate 77 early Sunday morning.
Ivey Stringfellow, 51, was driving south around 4:40 a.m. when the 1997 Honda collided with a deer about two miles south of the North Carolina border, according to the York County Coroner and Lance Cpl. David Jones with S.C. Highway Patrol. The impact reportedly caused Stringfellow to lose control of the vehicle, which then crashed into the concrete median barrier. Stringfellow was wearing a seat belt.
Stringfellow was transported to the hospital and died from injuries sustained in the crash.
The incident remains under investigation by Highway Patrol.
