Plenty of free tickets for middle school students to see the movie “Selma” at Rock Hill’s Manchester Cinemas 14 are still available, organizers of the event said.
Local organizers – who added Rock Hill to a national movement in 28 areas to send students to see the movie about the events leading up to the 1965 civil rights march at Selma, Ala. – raised enough money to buy tickets for about 4,000 students. Through Thursday, though, only about 400 of the tickets had been used, said Dr. Bill Alleyne, coordinator of the Charlotte effort.
Any student in northern South Carolina or the Charlotte region who presents a valid student ID can get a ticket to see the movie in Rock Hill or at two theaters in Charlotte – Regal Starlight Stadium 14 in the University area and Regal Stonecrest at Piper Glen Stadium 22 & IMAX in south Charlotte.
