A Rock Hill couple is facing charges after police say they used a stolen pregnancy test in a Walmart bathroom and then tried to walk out wearing stolen shoes.
On Wednesday, a loss prevention officer at the Walmart on Dave Lyle Boulevard saw the 27-year-old man and 20-year-old woman in the shoe department, and noticed the man appeared to be wearing a pair of the store’s shoes. He followed the couple as they went into the health and beauty department and picked out a home pregnancy test, according to a Rock Hill Police report.
The two were stopped after they tried to leave the store without paying. The woman said she took the pregnancy test into the store’s bathroom and used it. A search of her bag also uncovered a pair of shoes. She admitted the shoes were hers, and the shoes she was wearing were taken from the store, the report states.
The man also admitted to stealing a pair of shoes, telling officers, “I am starting a new job tonight. I needed new shoes, so I did what I had to do.”
Both were transported to the city jail. The woman was charged with shoplifting first offense, and the man with shoplifting second offense due to a previous shoplifting conviction.
The police report doesn’t indicate if the pregnancy test was positive or not.
