A 64-year-old man has been charged in a downtown Chester bookstore shooting Saturday that left one person seriously injured, Chester police spokesperson Keisha Tobias said.

Robert Worthy Sr. has been arrested in connection with the 2:30 p.m. Saturday shooting, and is the estranged husband of one of the people in the store at the time, Tobias said.

The injured woman is Worthy's mother-in-law and the owner of the bookstore, Father Son Holy Spirit Christian bookstore at 145 Gasden St., Tobias said. She was flown to an area hospital and is in surgery, Tobias said.

Worthy's mother-in-law and estranged partner were the only people in the store at the time, Tobias said.
