All three major candidates for Rock Hill’s mayoral race will attend a debate Thursday afternoon.
The debate, hosted by the Kiwanis Club, is at 12:45 p.m. Sept. 7 in the Palmetto Room.
Duane Christopher, John Gettys and William “Bump” Roddey are scheduled to be there, said moderator and Winthrop University professor Scott Huffmon.
Christopher is a longtime Rock Hill landscape architect. Gettys, a co-founder at Morton & Gettys Law Firm on Main Street, serves as the Rock Hill Sports Commission chair. Roddey serves as a York County Council member.
The election, which will decide who will replace retiring mayor Doug Echols, is Oct. 17.
Echols is stepping down after 20 years as Rock Hill’s mayor and 28 years serving on city council.
Huffmon said he will allow a short opening statement period, a few questions and a short audience question period. Any audience questions must be written down, Huffmon said.
