The funeral for the 11-year-old Chester boy whom police say was killed by a hit-and-run driver now out on bond is set for Thursday.

La’Darious Wylie was at the school bus stop on Oct. 27 when police say he was hit by a car driven by Michelle Johnson, 57. Johnson then fled the scene.

The funeral is at 3 p.m. Thursday at Browns Chapel AME Zion Church.

Johnson, of Chester, was not arrested until Thursday on a charge of hit and run resulting in death, according to police. Police say Johnson did not render aid nor call police after the incident.

Johnson, who has no criminal record, was released late Friday after a judge gave her a $25,000 bond.

Wylie’s mother said she does not hate Johnson, but is upset that Johnson allegedly did not stop after hitting her son.

Two accounts have been set up to help the family of La’Darious with funeral expenses. Donations may be made at any First Citizens Bank or through a GoFundMe account. Donations also may be made to Kings Funeral Home, 135 Cemetery St. in Chester.
