Rock Hill’s muddy Fountain Park drained until repairs made to correct clogging
A work crew is examining Rock Hill’s downtown Fountain Park Friday after water pipes may have become clogged and caused the 50,000-gallon fountain to turn muddy.
City spokeswoman Katie Quinn said Friday afternoon workers have drained the fountain. Officials can’t determine when it will running again until crews determine the problem. The company that built the nearly $1 million fountain, W.P. Law, is on site assessing the issue.
The $6 million Fountain Park opened last year featuring a fountain high-power jets and pumps that can blast water more than 120 feet in the air. The park has since hosted popular outdoor events such as Rock Hill’s “Food Truck Friday” and various ChristmasVille activities.
