A Clover Town Council member who is against a proposed 180-foot cell tower to be built across the street from homes and a church flew balloons at the height of the tower Saturday to try and show residents how tall the tower would be.

The balloons at the south edge of town could be seen from downtown where the town was having its annual St. Patrick’s Day event.

Council member Todd Blanton, who lives nearby, is against the tower that town officials say meets zoning requirements. Other residents are against the tower and one who lives across the street from the site has filed a lawsuit against the Town of Clover.

A hearing on the suit is set for Thursday at 11 a.m. in York in civil court.
