The York County Council announced the hiring of Kevin Madden as the county’s new finance director and treasurer, according to a news release Thursday.
Madden, a certified public account who has previously worked at firms in South Carolina and Texas, will direct the preparation and administration of the county’s and museums’ annual budgets. He will serve as custodian of all funds managed by the county, coordinating annual audits conducted by external auditors, and supervising the operation of the finance department.
“Kevin Madden will be a great asset to York County,” said York County Council Chairman Britt Blackwell. "His experience, knowledge and leadership skills will ensure efficient and effective fiscal management practices."
Madden has experience in overseeing numerous governmental and nonprofit audits. He previously spent time as a partner at Greene, Finney & Horton in Mauldin, was the senior internal auditor at Fluor Corp. in Greenville, and was the auditor at Price Warehouse in Houston, Texas.

Madden holds both a master’s degree in finance and a bachelor’s degree in accounting from Texas A&M.
