$200,000 lottery winner from Lancaster says ‘the trick is believing’

staff reports

A Lancaster man who won $200,000 from a lottery ticket has some advice for those looking to win big.

“The trick is believing it is possible,” said the man, who declined to be identified.

The winner told lottery officials his positive attitude paid off when his Palmetto Cash 5 ticket matched all five numbers drawn on Aug. 17 (2, 3, 11, 29, and 34).

And the winning moment was sweeter than he’d imagined.

“My mouth dropped open and I started screaming and waving my arms around,” he said.

Now he’s out looking at new homes.

“You have to believe,” he said.

The odds of winning $200,000 playing Palmetto Cash 5 are 1 in 1,003,884.

For selling the claimed ticket, South 200 Discount Beverage LLC in Lancaster received a commission of $2,000.
