The River Hills Lions Club has launched a new project, called Roaring Readers, to provide free books to children in the second grade at Kinard Elementary School in Clover. In addition, the school has applied to Reading is Fundamental, a government program to help young readers by providing 75 percent of the book cost. Funding usually takes up to a year for approval.
The Lions Club is concerned with the issue of learning disabilities which may impact children's progress in school and prospects for success in life.
