CLOVER -- Oaks of Clover is getting a new builder.
The 250-home development at the intersection of S.C. 557 and S.C. 55 in Clover will now be built by True Home builders instead of CP Morgan, said Johnny Rankin of Mann Properties, the developer on the project.
It was CP Morgan's decision not to continue with the new community, Rankin said.
Traves Bonwell, director of market development for CP Morgan, confirmed the decision to pull out of the project.
"We look at all different deals all the time, but we never built in the Oaks of Clover development," Bonwell said. "Those things switch kind of all the time."
Mark Boyce with True Home Builders, which is building Regal Manor in Fort Mill as well as other neighborhoods in Rock Hill and Charlotte, said they are looking forward to starting construction in the next couple weeks.
"We're excited about the neighborhood," Boyce said. "Mann's done a great job on the development of the property and preserving buffers around the perimeter of the property."
The location also is attractive because it's within a convenient distance to Charlotte and because of the Clover schools, he said.
Homes will range in size from 2,000- to 3,600-square feet. Prices will range from the $140,000s to the low $200,000.
New home construction is expected to start in the next couple weeks, and the first homes should be ready for move in by late summer.
CP Morgan has not pulled out of the Clover area, Bonwell said. They are still actively selling in Irish Downs and Clover Meadows.
The company anticipates completing the projects according to original plans, said Blair Kendall, company spokesperson.
"At Irish Downs, we had plans to build approximately 300 homes and 100 at Clover Meadows," Kendall said. "We are moving along as planned with those projects."
Rankin said they are looking forward to working with the new builders.
"This is going to be a good builder," he said. "He's going to do a great job for the community and we're excited about it."
While mostly the same design, there will be some minor differences, Rankin said.
