Richburg man, 20, wanted in York shooting

Police are looking for a 20-year-old Richburg man accused of shooting another man in York on Thursday night.

William Dewayne White of 861 Old Mill Road, Richburg, is charged with attempted murder, criminal domestic violence, burglary and other related charges, according to a York Police report.

The report states that someone broke into a York home and shot Jonterrio Lanquentis Snipes, 23, of Railroad Avenue.

Snipes and a 20-year-old York woman were in her house on California Street watching television when White kicked in the door, "waving a handgun" and cocking the gun, the report states.

The woman ran out of the house.

When police arrived, there was blood on the floor, couch, front door and the wall of the apartment, and a large pool of blood behind the front door, according to the report.

Snipes said that White came in and asked what he was doing there. White then pulled out a handgun and began hitting Snipes on the head with it, the report states.

Snipes said that when he ran out of the house and down the street, White fired the gun at him.

Snipes was taken to Piedmont Medical Center in Rock Hill, where he was treated and released.

Anyone with information on White is asked to call York Police at 803-684-4141.
