James Olson, Winthrop University’s College of Business Administration executive in residence, will speak at the Jan. 28 meeting of the Clover-Lake Wylie Republican Women at River Hills Country Club.
Olson, a former auto industry executive, plans to talk about the importance of Washington creating the proper atmosphere for freeing capitalism to flourish. He also will discuss how corporations develop positive relationships with legislators in order to educate and influence them.
Olson’s résumé includes 16 years at Ford Motor Co., where he served in a series of public affairs management positions. He joined Toyota in 1985 and spent 19 years with Toyota Motor Sales USA, culminating in a post as senior vice president of the company’s North American holding company.
Olson joined the Navy following graduation from Stanford University in 1964, and earned his master’s degree from Northwestern University. He recently published a book, “The Little Red Book of Management Tools,” which will be sold after a question-and-answer session.
