The York school district will join others across the state in observing School Board Recognition Month during January. The theme of the observance is “School Boards Speak Out For Public Schools.”
York schools will observe the month by having school board members visit schools. Each board member is assigned at least one school and one member is assigned two schools.
The York board members and their assigned schools are: Betty Johnson, Cotton Belt Elementary; Chris Stephenson, Hickory Grove/Sharon Elementary; Melissa Ramsey, Hunter Street Elementary; Al Johnson, Jefferson Street Elementary and York One Academy; Mike Smith, York Intermediate; Christopher Revels, York Middle; and Shirley Harris, York Comprehensive High and the Floyd D. Johnson Technology Center.
During Tuesday's school board meeting, board members were honored and received a handpainted wood cutout featuring silouettes of each school in the district from school representatives across the district.
