An 89-year-old York woman’s purse was stolen during a burglary at her East Jefferson Street residence late Sunday night, police say.
The woman said she heard a doorbell around 11:45 p.m. and got out of bed to see who was there, according to a York police report.
When she got to the living room, she told police she heard something outside, behind the residence. When she turned around, someone dressed in all black wearing a hood over his face was in the house.
The man asked her where she kept her money, and threatened to shoot her if she didn’t comply. He then took her purse and ran out the door, the report states.
The purse had $60 cash and a credit card, the report states. The victim was not reported injured, Detective Bill Mumaw said.
It appears as though the burglar entered through a window, police said.
Police were unable to locate the suspect, and no suspect information was available.
