The York school district is offering to senior citizens and retired York school district employees a pass for free admission to school events such as regular games, plays and concerts.
Those who qualify may have their VIP courtesy pass made from 9 to 11 a.m. or 1 to 3 p.m. on Wednesday, Aug. 17, 24, or 31 and the first Wednesday of the month. The picture ID pass will be made at the Education Services Center, 16 Spruce St., across from York One Academy/Pinckney Street Learning Center.
Passes will be honored at all York school district-sponsored events, with the exception of playoff games sponsored by the S.C. High School League or other organizations.
Eligibility criteria is district residents who are 60 years old. York school district retirees qualify regardless of age, but will need to present a VIP Courtesy Pass at the entrance of qualifying events. It will not be necessary to renew the picture ID card once it has been issued.

Eligible persons may obtain the pass by calling 684-1905 to make an appointment. Bring proof of age.
Applicants will be asked to complete a form. Louise Moss, DES Operator, will take a photograph and prepare the ID.
Those who have received a VIP pass in the past do not need to renew it.
