Clover YMCA named branch of year

The Clover Branch YMCA was named Branch of the Year at the Upper Palmetto YMCA annual meeting Feb. 21.

The Clover branch exceeded its annual budget, met campaign goal, maintained membership, and has more than 500 children in summer camp and afterschool. They also partnered with the community and other organizations to open the Roosevelt Afterschool Program.

“It was a team effort from everyone at the branch,” said Linda McCallum, branch director. “It really makes my job very easy and rewarding.”

McCallum, who also will be the branch manager for the Lake Wylie facility, said the Clover branch will continue to operate as usual.

The Lake Wylie Branch YMCA at 4036 Charlotte Hwy., suite 109, is scheduled to open April 1. Hours will be 5 a.m. to 9:30 p.m. Monday-Friday, 8 a.m.-6 p.m. Saturday and 1-6 p.m. Sunday. New members can currently join at the Clover YMCA. Membership includes unlimited access to all nine Upper Palmetto YMCA branches, McCallum said.

Memberships cost $50 for adults, or $71 for two adults. Adults plus dependents costs $75 month. Senior adult memberships cost $40, or $60 for senior couple.
