York JV boys soccer team ties Bearcats, defeats Lions

The York Comprehensive High School jayvee boys soccer team experienced back-to-back successes, battling Rock Hill to a 1-1 tie and shutting out Lewisville 4-0.

The Cougars were led by strong defensive performances by Juan Angeles, Talon Turner, Alejandro Flores, James Good and Gage Hawkins in the Rock Hill match.

Goalkeeper Eric Pacheco had seven saves. Offensively, York was led by Jose Nava and Evan Lewis in the midfield.

“The Cougars battled all night against an older Bearcat team and were able to tie the game on a beautiful goal from Lewis in stoppage time,” said noted jayvee coach Jason Roberts.

Lewis led the YCHS team with two goals in the win over Lewisville. Zach Domin and Turner also scored goals.Turner, Domin, Flores and Gavin Tucker added assists for the Cougars.Roberts noted that the defense, led by Angeles, Good and Hawkins, kept a clean sheet.
