A York man was arrested and charged with armed robbery after police say he wielded a razor knife on two Walmart employees who attempted to stop him from leaving the store with stolen items.
York Police arrested Ralph Lee Thompson, 52, of 32 Magnolia Street, Monday morning in the parking lot of the York Walmart, at 970 E. Liberty Street, York Police Chief Andy Robinson said.
Police responded to a call from the store at 8:50 a.m. regarding a man who had pulled out a razor knife and made threatening gestures to two loss prevention employees who tried to stop him from leaving the store.
When the man pulled out the knife, the employees backed away and the suspect left the store.

Police found Thompson at the car wash between Walmart and Lowes still holding the knife, Robinson said. At officers’ orders, Thompson dropped the knife and was taken into custody without incident.
Officers recovered two stolen car radio amplifiers, a pack of socks and a pack of t-shirts from Thompson, Robinson said.
