The York Comprehensive High School boys’ golf team placed first in a four-way match that included the Cougars, host Union, Broome and Chapman.
The Cougars fired a season best nine-hole match score of 162, besting Union’s score of 168, Chapman’s 172 and Broome’s 173.Luke Lancaster paced the scoring for the YCHS golfers with a 36. Daley Ballard shot 40; Logan Aggeles, 42; Stroud Baker, 44; Austin Hall, 45; and Chandler Sain, 48.
Competing in the inaugural Tom Fleischer Invitational Tournament at Rock Hill Country Club, the YCHS golfers played their most consistent golf of the season, firing a 658 36-hole score to finish sixth in the 15-team field.
Leading the way was Lancaster’s 78-72-150 score for a ninth-place finish in the 60-golfer tournament.

Lancaster’s 3-under-par 33 on the front nine and final even-par 72 score represented the best Cougar score of the season to date.
Also playing well for the Cougars were Ballard, 81-79-160; Hall, 82-87-169; and Aggeles, 92-87-179.
The top-10 finish guarantees the Cougars a return trip to the tournament next year.
The team closes out the regular season Thursday with an away match at Fort Mill before heading to the region tournament Monday at the Chester golf course.
Next will be the Upper State AAA Qualifier tournament Monday, May 7, at Fort Mill.
