Police arrested a Sharon man they say followed a woman from a Dollar Tree store in Newport to several other businesses in Rock Hill, and then jumped out of his still-moving car when officers tried to stop him.
Richard Johnson, 33, is charged with harassment in the first degree. Police say he suffered road rashes on his arm and face but refused medical treatment when officers arrested him Wednesday evening.
A 29-year-old Rock Hill woman told police she noticed a man following her when she left the Dollar Tree in Newport. When she got into her car and began riding around the Walmart parking lot, she noticed the man following her in his Ford truck.
The woman then went to a pharmacy on Ebenezer Road, and noticed that the man had followed her into the parking lot. She drove south on Herlong Avenue, then turned left onto Heckle Boulevard before making a left onto West Main Street, according to the police report.
