Three Clover track athletes advance to state

Clover High School sprinters Dennis Crawford and Trey Childress have made their presence felt in a huge way this season, established themselves as a force in Region 3-AAAA.

The Clover twosome’s dominance carried over into the region meet, with Crawford winning two events and Childress gaining first place honors in another.

Crawford finished first in the 110 hurdles and 400 hurdles, with a 14.73 clocking in the 110 and 57.01 in the 400.

Meanwhile, Childress showcased his speed in the 200 meters, with a winning time of 21.90.

Crawford, Childress and Jai Littlejohn will represent Clover in state competition Friday and Saturday at Spring Valley High School in Columbia.

Crawford advanced to the state in the 110 hurdles with a first place finish in state qualifying. He also will compete in the 400 hurdles after a third-place finish.

Childress advanced to the state with a third place finish in the 200 meters and eighth in the 100 meters.

Littlejohn qualified for the state with a fourth place ranking in the triple jump.
