Beersheba to hold homecoming

Beersheba Presbyterian Church, South Beersheba Road, Clover, will have a homecoming celebration at 11 a.m. Sunday, Aug. 4.

Guest speaker will be the Rev. Tom McPhail. Lunch will be served following the service.

Mount Vernon UMC plans Sunday lunch

Mount Vernon United Methodist Church, 2160 Smithford Road, Hickory Grove, will have its first Sunday lunch from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Sunday. Aug. 3.

The take-out menu will include stew beef, chicken strips, rice and gravy, mac and cheese, green beans, homemade slaw, rolls and pound cake.

Cost is $8 adults and $4 for children ages 10 and younger. Meals are eat in or take out. All take-out plates are $8.

Greater Unity plans car wash, fish fry

Greater Unity AME Zion Church, S.C. 97, Sharon, will have a car wash and fish fry on Aug. 2 at the Auto Zone in York.

Weeping Mary plans revival

Weeping Mary Baptist Church, U.S. 321 North, Clover, will have a revival at 2:30 p.m. Aug. 10 with the Rev. Bill Houze and 7 p.m. Aug. 11-13 with the Revs. Thurman Clark, Antwonn Lynch and Bishop Terry McCaskill, respectively.

Trinity UMC plans breakfast

Trinity United Methodist Church, East Liberty Street, York, will host its annual Summerfest breakfast from 7 to 9 a.m. Aug. 23.

The menu will include grits, eggs, bacon, sausage, gravy, homemade biscuits, fruit, coffee and orange juice.

Plates are $7 for age 11 and older; $3, age 4-10; free for age 3 and younger. Proceeds help needy families at Christmas. For information, call Ellen Jones at 803-927-7271.

Annual fish fry coming soon

First Baptist Church of York, 102 S. Congress St., will have its annual Summerfest fish fry fundraiser from 4:30 to 8 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 23 during the festival.

Tickets are $9 each. Tickets may be purchased at the door, or you may call the church at 803-684-4297 to reserve your tickets in advance.

Plates include either fish or chicken strips, or combo plates of fish and chicken, french fries, coleslaw and hush puppies. Eat-in plates also include a drink. The event is catered by Catfish Cove.

Bake sale items will be available, with proceeds going to the Sept. 13 Operationinasmuch, a mission outreach program.

Clover church schedules revival

The Clover AME Zion Church will have a revival in August.

The schedule will be 2:30 p.m. Aug. 24, with the Rev. Heyward Boyd, Fairview AME Zion Church, Great Falls; and 7 p.m. Aug. 24 and 25 with the Rev. Michael Golden of Limestone Missionary Baptist Church, Gaffney.

Charles and Barbara Ford of Lake Wylie will host a trip to Israel on Nov. 5-15.

The Fords have lived in and visited Israel many times and have insight into the history, religion and modern day culture of this region, the birthplace of Christianity.
