Mount Zion plans men’s shoe drive

Mount Zion Baptist Church will host a veterans shoe drive from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Oct. 4 to collect new or gently used men’s shoes.

Mount Vernon UMC plans Sunday lunch

Mount Vernon United Methodist Church, 2160 Smithford Road, Hickory Grove, will have it first Sunday lunch from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 5.

The take-out menu includes pork chops, chicken strips, potatoes, mac and cheese, green beans, slaw, homemade rolls and pound cake.

Cost is $8 adults and $4 for children ages 10 and younger. All take-out plates are $8. Diners may eat in or take out.

Proceeds go to the building fund and local, national and world missions.

Bethel Baptist fall fest Oct. 18

Bethel Baptist Church Fall Festival is 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Oct. 18 at 6031 Charlotte Highway.

There will be music, food, hay rides, games, inflatables, popcorn and more, all free.

Kings Mountain chapel UMC plans fall festival

Kings Mountain Chapel United Methodist Church on Philbeck Road, York, will have its fall festival and craft bazaar from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 18.

The church is partnering with The Peach Tree on Filbert Highway, which will have its annual fall festival on the same day.

The church will have crafters and artists, games and a hayride. The United Methodist Men will be selling food and the United Methodist Women will be selling baked goods.

The youth group will be offering the games to raise money for their mission project, and there will be a pumpkin roll on the church’s front lawn.

Admission is free.

Kings Mountain UMC plans yard sale

Kings Mountain Chapel United Methodist Church on Philbeck Road north of York will host a yard sale from 7 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 4.

The cost is $5 for a 12-by-12-foot space, and everyone is invited to participate. Those who want a yard sale space should come to set up at 6:30 a.m. Oct. 4.

There will be a bake sale in the church social hall. A breakfast of sausage biscuits and coffee will be sold and a lunch of hot dogs and drinks will be sold.

Proceeds go to mission projects of the church’s United Methodist Women.

Artists invited to church Fall Bazaar

River Hills Community Church Fall Bazaar Committee will showcase the work of Lake Wylie artists at the Nov. 1 event from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.

There are no entry fees, with a maximum of five entries per artist to be received 1-4 p.m. Oct. 22.

Art must be two-dimensional framed art or gallery wrapped canvas ready to be hung, with 60 percent of sales going to the artist and 40 percent to church missions.

Matted unframed art or shrink wrapped work including note cards, with 50 percent to the artist and 50 percent to church missions.

People’s Choice Awards will be awarded. First place will receive $100, second $75 and third $25. There will be three honorable mentions. Voting will be held after each Oct. 26 service.

Healing service at Good Samaritan

The Divine Healing Ministry Chapter of the International Order of St. Luke holds a healing service at 3 p.m. the fourth Saturday of the month at Good Samaritan United Methodist Church, 5220 Crowders Cove Road.
