A York man has been banned from York One Academy’s adult education program after causing a disturbance over how classmates recited the Pledge of Allegiance to the American flag, according to a York police report.
The man, 25-year-old Brian Michael Torman of 310 N. Congress St., became upset and “belligerent” when his classmates didn’t stand to recite the pledge, according to a police report.
The incident happened around 9 a.m. on Sept. 24 during a class for students interested in receiving a GED, the report said.
The instructor told police the suspect threatened another student, telling him that he would “whoop your behind,” for not standing up when saying the pledge to the flag, the report states.
