York Rotary makes gift to help young readers

York Rotary President Craig Hazelwood recently presented a check for $7,268.24 to Teresa Creech, executive director of the Early Learning Partnership of York County.

The money was raised at the Rotary Club’s annual Beach Bash before Christmas. It’s to be used to provide preschool children access to age-appropriate books in their homes.

Once enrolled in the learning partnership program, a child receives a hard-cover book by mail each month. This program is a community driven initiative that costs the partnership $30 per child per year, or $150 from birth to age 5.

Literacy is one of the community programs that the York Rotary supports with its fundraising activities.
