CLOVER -- Long-time Clover resident Jorge Nieves has been busy organizing the town's first MAA Fall Hispanic Family Festival & Modified Softball Tournament, set for Saturday at Clover Community Park.
The tournament begins at 9 a.m.
"It is the first time that we have had a tournament like this with cultural activities including music, Hispanic foods, and more for the families" said Clover Recreation Program Coordinator Willis Whitley.
Nieves started the nonprofit organization this summer.

"We believe in families that play together, stay together so we want young and old to enjoy the day at the park," Nieves said. "We welcome everyone to enjoy the traditional Hispanic foods along with burgers, hot dogs and popcorn."
Desserts such as Puerto Rican flan will be made by Cover resident Vianca Nieves-Gordan.
The family-friendly event will be alcohol-free, said Nieves.
Nieves plays with the Charlotte Brewers, a Puerto Rican team.
"We also have a local team that has Hispanic players, another Puerto Rican team, two Dominican teams, a Cuban team and more in the tournament including a team from Raleigh" said Nieves.
The tournament is modified fast pitch and is sponsored by the Mecklenburg Athletic Association. It is a triple elimination format.
