York Cafe listed in book

YORK -- The Garden Café in York has been included in a new book about South Carolina's favorite places to eat.

Stop Where the Parking Lot's Full, a 301-page soft cover illustrated book, represents almost 20 years, 20 pounds, and hundreds of miles of statewide restaurant reporting. Published by Sandlapper Society, it includes updated restaurant reports that appeared in Sandlapper magazine from late 1989 through mid-2008.

"We've literally eaten our way across South Carolina, and now our readers can follow our trail," says Aïda Rogers, the book's editor.

"I tend to stay away from the word 'delightful.' But that's my adjective for The Garden Café in York. Like a Viennese waltz, it's always pleasant and fun," Rogers observes in "It's Delightful, It's Delicious," the name of the chapter about The Garden Café. "The desserts are just another artistic element at The Garden Café. The peanut butter cheesecake, three-and-a-half inches high with chocolate icing, is pure inspiration."

The book, which costs $24.95 plus $2.50 for shipping) can be ordered from Sandlapper Society by calling 1-800-908-0308.
