Clover Duals scheduled Dec. 29-30

CLOVER -- The much-anticipated Clover Duals Classic, a two-day wrestling extravaganza showcasing York County schools as well as out of state teams, will be held Dec. 29 and 30 at Clover High School.

The action begins at 10 a.m. on Friday and 9 a.m. Saturday in the CHS new and old gyms.

CHS wrestling coach Mike Fitzgerald, who coordinates the holiday event, said this year's Duals format includes another strong field.

"The popularity of the Clover Duals and overall participation continue to grow," the CHS coach said.

Fitzgerald said every team competes against all participants in the Clover Duals format, with an outright champion determined at the conclusion of day two.

York Comprehensive High School wrestling coach David Spencer said the format benefits the YCHS wrestling program.

"It gives us 10 matches and serves as a good tune-up for region competition," he said. "We get to see some of the region teams as we prepare for our second season."
