YCHS baseball team at Northwestern Saturday
The York Comprehensive High School baseball team will conclude regular-season play Saturday at region power Northwestern.
The YCHS team was originally scheduled to play at Norwestern on April 10. The make up game will begin at 1 p.m., Saturday.
Region 3-AAAA games canceled for whatever reason are being rescheduled because of the logjam in the middle of the region standings.
Clover, York golfers eye region tournament
The Clover High and York Comprehensive High boys golf teams are readying for the 2009 Region 3-AAAA Tournament to be held April 29 at the Cherokee National course in Gaffney.
With the top two finishers advancing to state competition, the grueling 36 hole event begins at 7 a.m.
York coach Christopher Black and Clover coach Dudley Lybrand have repeatedly said the tournament format is rare in high school sports.
"Regular-season play means nothing," Black said. "It all comes down to a 1-day tournament."
York, Clover tennis, boys soccer part of rivalry week
The York Comprehensive High School boys tennis team will host Clover Thursday at 5 p.m. in the final regular-season match for both schools.
Rivalry Week continues Friday, with the Clover boys soccer team hosting York at 7 p.m. at Memorial Stadium.
Middle school sports physicals
YORK -- Sports physicals for rising 7th and 8th graders at Harold C. Johnson Middle School have been scheduled for next week.
Girls should report to the gym from 3:30 - 6 p.m., Tuesday, April 28. Boys need to report to the gym from 3:30 - 6 p.m. Wednesday, April 29.
Body Makeover Aerobics
YORK -- York Parks and Recreation Department began a new exercise and fitness program this month. Body Makeover Aerobics is a combination of flexibility, strength, balance, aerobic conditioning, and lifestyle integration. Make your body stronger, leaner and healthier by learning to utilize all of your physical aspects of physical fitness. The program is for men, women, and children with adult supervision.
Classes will be held on Tuesday and Thursday evenings, 6 - 7 p.m., at the York Recreation Center on White Rose Lane. The cost is $30 per month.
Classes will be instructed by Lisa Bolin, licensed fitness specialist with the American Council on Exercise. Lisa is also York County's first professional female boxer.

Pop Warner coaches needed
Pop Warner is starting an association in York and is in need of football and cheerleading coaches for the upcoming 2009 season. The program serves boys and girls ages 5 - 13, and will be working closely with high school staff to develop players. Training will be provided and background checks are required. Future Cougar Basketball Camp dates set
YORK -- The 2009 Future Cougar Basketball Camp (boys and girls) will be held June 15-18 from 5 to 8 p.m.
Boys and girls ages 5 to 9 will camp at the York Junior High School gym and boys and girls 10 to 15 at the York Comprehensive High School gym.
Instructors will include the York girls basketball coaching staff and members of the varsity team.
Each participant will receive a T-shirt and daily instruction stressing the importance of fundamentals, teamwork and a good attitude.
An awards ceremony will be held June 18 at each site before participants, parents and family.
The cost is $50 per participant. Mail application, check or money order by June 10 or pay at the door June 15.
