Post 38 zaps Rock Hill, remains unbeaten

CLOVER -- The Clover American Legion baseball team rode the pitching prowess of Jeremy Long and Brooks McCarter in defeating Rock Hill 3-1 at home Monday night.

The win enabled Post 38 to remain unbeaten for the season, with a sparkling 4-0 record in only the third year of legion play.

"The pitching was great on both sides," Post 38 head coach Darrell VanDyke said after the game. "Jeremy pitched six strong innings and Brooks pitched well in relief and got the save."

Hayden Hendry drove in two runs and McCarter had the other RBI for Clover.

Though pleased with the win, VanDyke said the Post 38 players are working to regain their continuity and rhythm after missing much action and practice time due to heavy rainfall of late.

Post 38 will observe Lake Wylie Athletic Association Night at home Monday against Pineville.

All kids in uniform will be admitted free to the 7 p.m. game.
