Visions of Art exhibit will showcase local artwork Sept. 23-24 at River Hills Country Club.
Suzanne Krause, show organizer, said more than 40 artists will be involved.
“The main thing is, we don’t have very many art exhibits in this area,” she said. “This particular show, it’s been off and on in the area about 12 years.”
The event includes a preview party and art stroll 7-9:30 p.m. Sept. 23 featuring music, buffet and cash bar. Cost is $28. More than 100 people are signed up already, but more are welcome. Proceeds go to youth scholarships for Gaston School of the Arts.

The exhibit opens to the public 9 a.m.-3 p.m. Sept. 24. There is no admission fee. The exhibit includes oil, acrylic, water color pastel, pencil, mixed-media, photography, glass art, jewelry, pottery, weaving and more. Many items will be for sale.
Unique offerings include demonstrations and items for sale Friday night from the Catwba Cultural Center, along with everything from graphite and fused glass to clothing, stained glass and one artist specializing in tuffets.
“It’s a little stool, a footstool,” Krause said, hearkening to the Little Miss Muffet nursery rhyme. “That’s very unique.”
The event is held in River Hills, and will include some artists from the community, but anyone within or outside of River Hills can come.
“This is not a River Hills art show,” Krause said. “This is a community art show. We want everybody welcomed.”
