LAKE WYLIE -- Fun was had by all on Aug. 2 at the grand re-opening of the River Hills playground.
During the month of July, the playground on Hamilton's Ferry Road was completely refurbished with new cutting-edge equipment for toddlers and older children.
The majority of the carefully-timed removal of the old equipment and installation of the new equipment was skillfully completed by the River Hills maintenance crew.
Children of all ages, along with parents and grandparents, enjoyed the grand re-opening festivities including subs, chips, ice cream and drinks provided by the Youth and Recreation Committee.

Initial ceremonies also unveiled the official name of the service road separating the playground from the community gardens. The need to name the road was the result of a recent emergency at the community gardens when EMS personnel could not find the gardens because there was no sign for the service road. It was decided that naming the road would help alleviate problems in the future and a road-naming contest was arranged. River Hills residents submitted and voted on several names, and at the playground re-opening, Bonnie Hart was awarded a prize for her winning name "Garden Park Lane."
