Boat show anchors this week in Charlotte

The annual Mid-Atlantic Boat Show is scheduled Feb. 7-10 at Charlotte Convention Center, Charlotte. Billed as the largest marine product event in the Carolinas, several Lake Wylie area businesses participate.

The Central Carolina Boat & Fishing Expo will be held Feb. 22-24 at Greensboro Coliseum in Greensboro.

Covekeepers meet at T-Bones

The Covekeepers, volunteers who work with Catawba Riverkeeper, meet the second Wednesday of the month at 7 p.m. at T-Bones on the Lake.

Safe boating course Feb. 16

Catawba Power Squadron offers a safe boating course from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Feb. 16 at Driving 911 classroom, 2000 S.C. 160, Fort Mill.

America’s Boating Course includes safe boating techniques, knots, what is required, useful hints, rules, aids to navigation, trailering and more.

This one-day class, with an exam, earns a certificate qualifying students for discount from most boat insurance companies, meet North Carolina’s law for younger than age 26 required to have boater education and qualify 13- to 16-year-olds to legally operate a Jet Ski.

Reading chapters 1-4 of the manual before class is recommended. The manual costs $30, and can be shared. Lunch can be provided for $5.

to Fish for Cure April 5

The Thursday Night Tournament Trail is hosting the third annual Fishing for a Cure Breast Cancer Awareness fishing tournament from 6:30 p.m. to 2 a.m. April 5.

This tournament raises money for the western York County Relay For Life Breast Cancer Awareness. The team captains are Stamie Hersheyman, Connie Garvin, Clair Britt and Elizabeth Scheafer.

The tournament is open to everyone.

In-Water show set

The South Carolina Marine Association will host the annual In-Water Boat Show April 12-14 at Daniel Island’s Waterfront Park in Charleston.

There will be boats in the water, boats on land, watercraft of all dimensions, marine education and safety exhibits, children’s activities and entertainment.
