Boater safety course July 20
LAKE WYLIE US Coast Guard Auxiliary Flotilla 26-02 is offering the About Boating Safely Course from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. July 20 at River Hills Marina.
Cost is $35 for first family member and $10 for each addition member from the same family.
This course is being offered every third Saturday of the month throughout the year, except for December.

Renew S.C. hunting, fishing license
South Carolina hunting and fishing license sales for 2013-2014 hunting and fishing licenses began June 17.
Licenses are available in person at any of the four regional S.C. Department of Natural Resources offices or by visiting one of the 500 license vendors across the state. Licenses also are available 24 hours a day, seven days a week by calling 866-714-3611 or by visiting dnr.sc.gov.
Residents and nonresidents age 16 and older must purchase the required licenses to hunt and fish in South Carolina. Persons born after June 30, 1979, must have successfully completed a hunter education course to obtain a hunting license.
Hunting license applicants who do not have a hunter education certification may use a onetime exemption and apply for an annual Apprentice Hunting License. The apprentice hunter must be accompanied by a state licensed hunter who is not licensed as an apprentice hunter, is at least 21 years of age, has not been convicted of a hunting or hunter education violation or received deferred adjudication of the same, and stays within a distance that enables uninterrupted, unaided, visual and oral communication with the apprentice hunter and provides adequate direction to the apprentice.
Covekeepers meet monthly
LAKE WYLIE The Covekeepers, volunteers who work with Catawba Riverkeeper, meet the second Wednesday of the month at 7 p.m. at T-Bones on the Lake.

YORK COUNTY The York County Emergency Response Team is seeking volunteers to join the team.
The team does water-related search, rescue and recovery, swift water rescue, low-angle rope rescue and search for missing people.
