CHS baseball team defeats York
CLOVER The Clover High School varsity baseball team defeated York 4-0 before a large crowd Friday at the CHS baseball complex.
“We were able to minimize our mistakes against York,” said head coach Darrell VanDyke. “Patrick Love pitched a good game for us.”
The Cougars threatened to score in the top of the seventh when Will Prince and Harrison Childers delivered back-to-back singles, but the rally fell short.

VanDyke said mistakes in the field had kept the Blue Eagles from winning previous games. “It was a good win tonight for our kids,” he said.
Clover JV baseball team prevails
CLOVER The Blue Eagle junior varsity baseball team defeated York 8-0 Friday, jumping out to a 7-0 lead in the third inning and maintaining the lead the remainder of the game.
Will Schlirf threw five and two-thirds innings, striking out eight and allowing no runs. Austin King was 1-for-3 at the plate and drove in a pair of runs.
CHS JV softball team on a roll
CLOVER The Clover High School girls’ junior varsity softball team defeated York 11-4 Friday and steamrolled the Northwestern JV team 17-2 Saturday.
In a previous game, the Lady Blue Eagles also rolled past Rock Hill 14-0 behind a strong pitching effort from Melia Venezia, who struck out seven and had a one-hitter.
Clover’s timely hitting contributed to the win.
York Middle track defeats Fort Mill, Clover
YORK The York Middle School girls’ and boys’ track teams defeated Fort Mill and Clover middle schools in a three-way meet.
The York Middle girls finished with 54 team points. Fort Mill had 52 and Clover 17.
The York Middle boys’ team had 73 points, with Fort Mill getting 27 and Clover 23.
