Golfers take swings at tourneys
WEST END, NC Nick Locke of Lake Wylie and Skip McPhail of Gastonia finished 41-41 - 82 in the super senior 65 and older Flight A at the June 2 Carolinas Golf Association’s Senior Four-Ball Tournament at the Country Club of Asheville in Asheville, N.C.
Harold Fisher and Tom Bookmiller, both of Lake Wylie swung for 35-35 - 70 in the Tournament Flight A (6,258 yards) at the May 20 Carolinas Golf Association’s Senior Four-Ball Tournament at the Country Club of Salisbury in Salisbury, N.C.
Tournament format is 18 holes of four-ball stroke play, both gross and net. Entry is open to any male amateur golfer who has reached his 55th birthday by the tournament date, is a member of a club which is a member of the Carolinas Golf Association and has a current USGA Handicap Index at a CGA member club. The field is divided into divisions based on age and total team course handicap: Tournament Division-Flight A, Flight B; Super Senior 65+ Division-Flight A, Flight B; Super Senior 70+ Division.

Lady Blue Eagles’ basketball camp begins July 14
CLOVER The first Clover High School all girls basketball camp will be at 7:30 a.m. July 14 to 17.
The camp director is Shakkia Walker, assistant girls’ basketball coach at CHS. The Lady Blue Eagle coaching staff, players and former players will provide instruction.
Pre-registration is recommended, with final registration to be at 4:30 p.m. July 14. Multi-child discount is $10 per child.
Camp day activities will focus on the fundamentals of the game, including dribbling, footwork, shooting, defense and ball-handling.
Belmont 3v3 tourney June 21
BELMONT The Belmont Parks & Recreation Department is holding a 3v3 soccer tournament June 21 at Davis Park field. Only eight teams per age division will be accepted into the tournament.
The age divisions offered are U9, U11, middle school and high school. All divisions are coed. The U9 and U11 age group will have an age cutoff Sept. 1. U9 cannot turn 9 before Sept 1. Middle school is for rising sixth-, seventh- and eighth-graders. High school is for rising ninth-, 10th-, 11th- and 12th-graders.
