As RiverGate opens its newest phase, the Steele Creek shopping center is also expanding from within.
Hubee D’s plans to open June 25 in the space formerly home to Panda Express, said Bonnie Little, RiverGate property manager. Hubee D’s is a chicken tenders and wings restaurant with a location in Charlotte and Columbia.
“It’s really cool,” Little said. “They just created a new patio. It’s warm. It’s inviting.”
Dino Stambolitis, general manager of Hubee D’s, said his restaurant will employ 15 to 20 people.

“Everything is made from scratch, prepared daily,” Stambolitis said. “It’s all about fresh food.”
The restaurant will be open 11 a.m.-9 p.m. seven days a week. The new deck space should help draw in new customers too, he said.
“It added about 40 feet,” Stambolitis said.
Recently opened just around the corner is Eye Level Learning. Owner Yomesh Deliwala is a 10-year Charlotte resident who worked with nonprofits.
“The learning center is basically one of the ways to give back to the community,” he said.
There are three Eye Level centers in Charlotte and more than 200 nationwide. The RiverGate location opened May 17 and operates four days a week after school and during the summer. Certified teachers work there, where they are “looking at education from the kids’ eye level,” Deliwala said.
“They set the foundation for a brighter tomorrow,’ he said.
According to the website, Eye Level is the global leader in self-directed learning, nurtures and promotes effective study practices for immediate and lifelong academic goals. For information about the center, visit myeyelevel.com/America/.
