Chamber marks stables’ summer camp
GASTONIA Surrounded by riding students, Montcross Area Chamber members and equine and canine friends, Jon and Carolyn Walker cut a ribbon to celebrate the start of their first summer camp season at the new location of Jon Walker Stables and Riding Academy.
Their 15-acre spread, which opened in the fall, is off Bud Wilson Road at 4933 Granny Trail in Gastonia.
With more than 40 years of professional experience, the Walkers teach English riding and western riding. Five sessions of summer camps are scheduled in June and July.

LAKE WYLIE Great Clips introduces “Clips of Kindness,” free clipper cuts, to anyone facing hair loss from cancer treatments.
“As a current and former cancer patient, I personally understand the emotions that surround a cancer diagnosis and hair loss,” said Deb Phillips, owner of the Lake Wylie Great Clips. “Not only are you in a battle for your life, often dealing with debilitating chemotherapy treatments, but you must deal with the dramatic change in your appearance. It can be a very difficult time.”
No appointment is necessary. For a private cut, appointments are available.
