Storms leave behind good fishing night on Lake Wylie

The storms July 24 had perfect timing.

It started raining during sign up for the Thursday Night Tournament Trail but finished before blast off, said Erwin Gaston of the July 24 Thursday Night Tournament Trail.

“It left us with wet boats, but very comfortable temps,” said Gaston, who co-organizes the weekly trail with Jeremy Cabe.

From 37 teams, it was the brother team of Ron and Roger Farrow won with five fish weighing 15.43 pounds. They also had the big fish of the night at 5.35 pounds.

Second place went to Josh Garner and Rick Carson with a weight of 13.12 pounds.

“We have five tournaments left before the season-ending fish off,” Gaston said.

The weekly trail continues through the end of August with the Fish Off Sept. 5-6. Registration is at 5:20 p.m each Thursday. at Buster Boyd Access Area.

Blast off is at 6:30 p.m. Entry fees cost $40 per boat. Trail sponsors are Academy Sports, Kangaroo Express and A-1 Adams Bail Bond.
