Pleasant Hill Church, 15000 York Road, celebrates its annual Community Harvest 9 a.m.-1 p.m. Oct. 11.

Oktoberfest on Oct. 18 at St. John’s

St. John’s United Methodist Church will hold Oktoberfest from 10 a.m.-2 a.m. Oct. 18.

The men of the church will be cooking Brunswick stew in a kettle over an open fire for sale by the quart, women selling home-baked pies and cakes, and youth selling pumpkins. Along with vendors, there will be crafts and a silent auction. At noon, lunch options include stew, barbecue or hot dogs.

Vendors wanted for Holiday Boutique

Lake Wylie Lutheran Church on Steele Creek Road is accepting vendor application through Oct. 20 for its Holiday Boutique, which will be held 10 a.m.-3 p.m. Nov. 8.

All items must be handmade or hand embellished. No resale items.

Cost for a 10-by-10 space is $25.


Artists invited to church Fall Bazaar

River Hills Community Church Fall Bazaar Committee will showcase the work of Lake Wylie artists from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Nov. 1.

There are no entry fees, with a maximum of five entries per artist to be received 1-4 p.m. Oct. 22.

Art must be two-dimensional framed art or gallery-wrapped canvas ready to be hung, with 60 percent of sales going to the artist and 40 percent to church missions.

Matted, unframed art or shrink-wrapped work including notecards will be sold with 50 percent to the artist and 50 percent to church missions.

People’s Choice Awards will be awarded. First place will receive $100, second $75 and third $25. There will be three honorable mentions. Voting will be held after each Oct. 26 service.

Donate to Coats for Kids

The Knights of Columbus Council and Respect for Life Ministry of All Saints Catholic Church are accepting donations for Coats for Kids to provide winter coats to children in need.

For $220, the groups can provide coats to 12 children in York County.

The Knights of Columbus began this initiative in 2009 to help families with children living in colder climates who were impacted by the economic downturn. Knights across the country have given away more than 167,000 coats. About 2,000 local Knights of Columbus councils have participated in their communities.

Last winter was a record year for the Order’s Coats for Kids program. During that time, 1,195 councils and the Supreme Council purchased and donated 51,924 coats.

The Divine Healing Ministry Chapter of the International Order of St. Luke holds a healing service 3 p.m. the fourth Saturday of the month at Good Samaritan United Methodist Church, 5220 Crowders Cove Road.

Dine for H.O.P.E.

The Waffle House-Lake Wylie and Knights of Columbus of All Saints Council No. 14475 are raising money for Operation Helping Other People Everyday, a statewide campaign to help people with intellectual disabilities.
