Pool season remains open at Bethel Commons in Lake Wylie no matter the calendar.
Imperial Pool & Spa recently opened a second location at 5235 S.C. 557 near Food Lion.
“We have a lot of customers who live up here and have been traveling to our Rock Hill store,” said store manager Barrett Elder, who has been with the company for more than nine years.
Owner Kevin Ice said he wanted to better serve his customer.

“It’s about our relationships with our customers rather than just selling products,” he said. “We sell them what they need instead of up-selling.”
The Rock Hill business opened in 1975. Ice took over from the original family in 2003. Ice said there are eight full-time employees between both stores.
“We see a lot of familiar faces and a lot of new faces,” Elder said. Her husband, Mike, manages the Rock Hill store and his family originally owned the store.
Ice said business has been good in the new 1,100-square-foot showroom. The Rock Hill store is 4,400 square feet.
“We have good foot traffic and a lot of new customers, which is encouraging,” he said.
Despite summer pool season ending, Elder and Ice say some residents keep the pool open all year and hot tub sales run year-round.
“There’s always something to do, and we focus on training in the winter,” Ice said.
Employees are trained to test and treat water, “our biggest service,” Elder said.
The store carries professional grade chemicals, such as BioGuard, and maintenance supplies and toys.
“Our service and product knowledge, that’s really what we base our existence on,” Ice said, “knowing customers, their pools and our products.”
