Anytime Fitness moves into new home

Anytime Fitness is in its new home, the latest of several moves for the growing Anchor Shops Place on S.C. 49 and Evergreen Road.

Anytime planned a soft opening Oct. 20 for members, with a grand opening Oct. 25 including a band, free boot camp and Zumba, prizes, drawings and membership deals. Anytime was the largest tenant of phase one at Anchor Shops Place, and will take up more than half the second phase.

Co-owner Kim Pennington said the move will help by adding multipurpose and class space, and will bring monkey bars and a punching bag among other features. Weight and cardio machines will remain, but the roughly 50 percent space increase allows for more cross-training options.

“We try to step out of the box of traditional fitness,” Pennington said.

Only moving a stone throw from the established location was important, too.

“We did not want to more anywhere far away, because a lot of people joined here because of the accessibility,” Pennington said.

Nationwide Insurance already is in its 1,100-square-foot, central space of phase two. Anytime Fitness takes up about 6,000 square feet on the side nearest phase one. Several more spaces sit at varying stages of completion, but work to sign tenants continues.

“We just completed a lease with Domino’s Pizza,” said Brian Long, broker with R.L. West. “We anticipate them to finalize their plans quickly and be under construction in the very near future.”

The Domino’s space is 1,200 square feet.

What’s left is less than 2,000 square feet in phase two, plus roughly 4,000 square feet in phase one that opened with the Anytime move.

The development also includes larger outparcels on either side of Waffle House. A 1.2-acre corner lot at S.C. 49 and Evergreen Road sits in front of phase one, a .82-acre lot on S.C. 49 in front of phase two.
