The Good Samaritan United Methodist women will hold a yard sale from 7 a.m. to 2 p.m. April 5 at the church, 5220 Crowder's Cove Lane (at Three Points). Sausage biscuits and hot dogs will be sold.

House of Mercy, a nonprofit residence for low-income persons living with advanced AIDS, is preparing for its 15th annual Walk for AIDS April 5. The three-mile jaunt through historic downtown Belmont helps residents of House of Mercy in Belmont. Goal: $25,000. Check in at 9:30 a.m. at the stone shelter on the Sisters of Mercy campus. The Yorkville Players present, local playwright Burton Bumgarner's "The Grandest Canyon," 8 p.m. April 10-12 and 3 p.m. April 12-13, McCelvey Center 212 E. Jefferson St., York. Miss Ida Ingram's dying wish was to have her ashes scattered over the Grand Canyon, no small request for the two remaining sisters, Isabelle and Imogene, to carry out as they are elderly and have never before ventured out of South Carolina. Humorous, yet a poignant journey discovering the soul. Tickets: $8, $5 for Saturday matinee; all seats general admission. Friday and Saturday only have dinner at Coalyard Restaurant & Lounge, 105 Garner St., York, and show ticket costs $15.
