News from LWAA - April 28, 2009

•Football and Cheer sign-ups: We are accepting registrations for football and cheerleading. This is for new and returning football players and cheerleaders. You can find registration forms and requirements on our Web site at There is no draft in Pop Warner, so all teams will be assigned on a first-come basis. Our next sign up is from 6 to 8 p.m. May 6 at Anytime Fitness in Lake Wylie. E-mail or if you have any questions regarding either program.

• Football and Cheerleading Coaches: If you are interested in coaching football or cheerleading, please fill out the online coaches' application on the coaches' page at We will be holding a series of meetings in the next few weeks to review what is new for 2009 and welcoming new coaches coming to us from Clover and Xtreme.

• LWAA Golf Tournament: The LWAA second annual golf tournament is slated for May 29 at the River Hills Country Club. We are now accepting sponsors and teams. All information is available online. We will only be accepting 25 teams this year, so book early.

• Softball Game Results: The first-ever LWAA Softball League played their first game in Gastonia, N.C. The girls have practiced long and hard, and it paid off. The Rebels 12U team won their game 12-1. Blake Wallert pitched a two-hitter and struck out seven batters. Rachel Capps, Emma Caves and Blake Wallert had hits for LWAA. Natalie Darling and Emma Caves each had an RBI. The whole team did a great job with their efforts and support of their teammates.

June 1: Deadline for football and cheer coaches applications and backgrounds checks

June 8-12: LWAA/ Clover High School Baseball Camp

June 13: Football and cheer registration 11 a.m.-2 p.m. at Bi-Lo, Lake Wylie

June 20: Football and cheer registration 10 a.m.-2 p.m. River Hills Association building

June 27: Mandatory Pop Warner parents meeting 10 a.m. and final registration
